What is chronic joint pain?
Pain lasting more than 3 months in one or more joints is considered chronic. It restricts daily activities and worsens over time without treatment.
Causes:
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Osteoarthritis
- Gout
- Overuse or repetitive strain
- Previous joint injuries or inflammation
Symptoms:
- Joint pain and stiffness
- Swelling and inflammation
- Limited range of motion
- Increased pain in cold weather
- Sleep disruption
Diagnosis:
- Rheumatologist consultation
- Ultrasound or X-ray
- Blood tests (rheumatoid factor, CRP)
- MRI if needed
Treatment:
- Anti-inflammatory medications
- Physiotherapy (laser, ultrasound, magnet)
- Massage and thermal therapy
- Diet and exercise routines
- Intra-articular injections for advanced cases
